Inter-App Audio (IAA) is a technology by Apple Inc, allows audio connection feature between apps. To use this feature, you need to have at least two IAA compatible applications installed on your iOS (iPhone, iPad etc.) device, first acts as a host and receives audio stream, and second acts as a node (or instrument) and publishes an output. Also, IAA node can transform audio or MIDI signal sent by host app, and return it in a modified form.
